Supplemental Security Income-Related Medicaid

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)-Related Medicaid provides health care coverage for:

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for SSI-Related Medicaid if you:

  • Have countable assets at or below the program limit.
    • If it’s just you, you cannot have more than $2,000 in assets.
    • You and your spouse cannot have more than $3,000 in assets.
  • Have countable monthly income at or below 100% of the federal poverty level after certain credits are applied.
    • If it’s just you, you cannot make more than $1,132.50 each month.
    • You and your spouse cannot make more than $1,525.83 each month.

If your income is more than 100% of the federal poverty level, you may still be able to qualify for SSI-Related Medicaid by meeting a deductible.

If you get health care benefits, be careful about sharing personal information. Make sure you only answer health questions from trusted contacts. Know that for programs like FoodShare, your agency will call you for an interview. They may ask you to answer questions, so they know they’re talking to the right person. If you’re not sure who you’re talking to, hang up the phone. Call your local county or tribal agency or ForwardHealth Member Services at 800-362-3002.

After you apply for ForwardHealth programs, you should only use the ACCESS website and MyACCESS mobile app to manage your benefits. If you get FoodShare benefits, you can also view your account details on the ebtEDGE mobile app.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is the nation’s consumer protection agency. The FTC advises you not to give out any information to people you don’t know. This includes phone calls, text messages, emails, or knocks on your door.

  • If you think a scam artist may have contacted you, tell the FTC by going to their website or call 877-FTC-HELP.
  • If you think some has stolen your identity, report it on the FTC’s website, or call 877-ID-THEFT.
